Marcus has been teaching within the VET sector for over twenty years and has been actively involved with technology for learning for more than ten of those years.

He is committed to the fundamental principles of workplace training and has been actively acknowledged as a leader in the move to implement training packages as part of real on the job learning.

Over recent years he has been a leading national practitioner in many aspects of online learning through his involvement in new and creative e-learning and m-learning projects.

He has been an active manager and participant in a number of Australian Flexible Learning Framework, LearnScope, New Practices and ReFraming the future programs over the last 6 years, many of which have spawned a number of innovative outcomes such as:

• An assessment database that provides a platform for individual contextualisation and production of assessment tools
• A creative professional development program for teaching and learning staff that is based on the use of readily available programs such as MS PowerPoint and FrontPage for the creation of simple electronic learning resources, known as Digital Coaching Aids.
• A range of leading initiatives and practical applications of mobile learning
• The Mobile Learning Practitioners Network and the new Australian Mobile Learning Network

These innovations have been recognised as leading initiatives both on a state level, nationally and internationally.

In 2003 Marcus Ragus was awarded an internal Flexible Learning Leader scholarship with TAFE Tasmania.

He has been a regular contributor to specialist industry committees and panels relating to training innovation and organisational management including the national body of the Nursery and Garden Industry Association for five years.
